New acquisitions
A cabinet dated aprox. 1700.
At the end of the 17th century large two-doored cabinets became fashionable. They are mostly set on twist-turned stands, are uncarved and are made from beautiful tropical woods. As one can see in this cabinet ebony is sometimes used for the stand and for the mouldings. The large panels are mostly of amboyna /teak wood. New location for
For over 4 years art trade Kunst+Interieur and Chairs share a common sales room in Nobelstraat 3. A successful combination, but still we are going to adjust soon. At the end of the summer we will leave the Nobelstraat. The art gallery will remain accessible via kunsteninterieur.nl and Chairs with shop and atelier will move into a new location: Zoutmanstraat 106, on the corner of the Laan van Meerdervoort. We have now started with the restoration and that is mainly down to ’ peel off ’: wooden panelling on new walls, mirrors placed on the concrete pillars, plastic profiled timber and a ceiling system have been removed. Gradually the original space becomes visible again. The stained glass windows were hidden behind wooden panels, but they are still there! An exciting experience!
